Terms of Service

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before installing or using Relic. By installing, accessing, or using the Relic browser extension (the "Extension" or "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Extension.

01The Service

Relic is a free browser extension that analyzes SEC/EDGAR filings and other investor documents entirely on your own device. It provides features such as plain-English summaries, sentence-level sentiment scoring, language flags, year-over-year "redline" comparisons, and investor-focused analysis. All analysis is generated locally using AI models bundled inside the Extension. Relic has no user accounts, requires no sign-in, and does not collect, transmit, or store your personal data. How your data is handled is described in our Privacy Policy.

02Not Financial, Investment, or Legal Advice

Relic is an informational and research tool only. It does not provide financial, investment, tax, accounting, or legal advice, and nothing it produces is a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security or to make any financial decision.

  • Relic's outputs — including summaries, sentiment scores, "Bullish / Bearish / Mixed / Neutral" reads, numeric scores, bull-and-bear cases, watch lists, and any other analysis — are automatically generated interpretations of source documents. They are not the opinion of a licensed financial adviser, broker, or analyst.
  • Relic is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, or financial institution, and no fiduciary or advisory relationship is created by your use of the Extension.
  • You are solely responsible for your own investment and financial decisions. Always do your own research and consult a qualified, licensed professional before acting. Past performance and document sentiment are not indicative of future results.

03Accuracy and AI-Generated Content

Relic's analysis is produced by automated AI models and text-processing algorithms. Such output can be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, or wrong, and may misinterpret or omit information, including through "hallucination" or misclassification.

  • Relic does not guarantee that any summary, score, flag, comparison, or other output is accurate, complete, or current.
  • Source documents (e.g., SEC filings) are authored by third parties, and Relic does not verify, endorse, or take responsibility for their contents.
  • You must independently verify any information against the original source filing before relying on it. Relic's outputs are a starting point for your own review, not a substitute for reading the underlying documents.

04License to Use the Extension

Subject to these Terms, you are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Extension for your own lawful, informational, and research purposes.

Relic's source code is licensed under the MIT License. To the extent Relic's source code is made available to you, your rights to that source code are governed by the MIT License, and nothing in these Terms limits rights expressly granted there. These Terms govern your use of the Extension as a service and the analysis it produces.

05Third-Party Content, Data, and Components

Relic relies on and interoperates with third-party materials, which are subject to their own terms and licenses:

  • SEC / EDGAR. Relic reads and, when you request a redline comparison, fetches filings from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's EDGAR system (*.sec.gov). Relic is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the SEC or any government agency. SEC filings are public records; the SEC is the authoritative source, and your use of EDGAR is subject to the SEC's own terms.
  • Other financial websites. If you choose to analyze a non-SEC financial site, Relic requests permission for that specific site first. Relic is not affiliated with those sites, and their content remains subject to their own terms and copyrights.
  • On-device AI models. Relic bundles third-party machine-learning models (including FinBERT and a sentence-embedding model), which remain subject to their own respective licenses.
  • Chrome built-in AI. On supported devices, Relic may use Chrome's built-in AI (e.g., Gemini Nano), which is provided and managed by Google under Google's terms.
  • Distribution platform. The Extension is distributed through the Chrome Web Store and your use of it is also subject to Google's applicable terms.

Relic is not responsible for third-party content, services, data, or availability.

06Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • use the Extension for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation, including securities laws;
  • use the Extension's output as the sole basis for any regulated financial activity or to provide financial advice to others without appropriate authorization;
  • interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to circumvent the security, rate-limiting, or intended operation of the Extension or of any third-party service it accesses (including SEC.gov);
  • misrepresent Relic's output as verified, professional, or human-generated financial advice.

07Intellectual Property

"Relic," its logo, and its original design are the property of the developer. Relic's source code is licensed under the MIT License as described in Section 4. You retain all rights to your own documents and data; Relic claims no ownership over the filings or content you analyze, and — consistent with the Privacy Policy — that content never leaves your device.

08Disclaimer of Warranties

THE EXTENSION IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer disclaims all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. The developer does not warrant that the Extension will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that its output will be accurate or reliable. You use the Extension at your own risk.

09Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE DEVELOPER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, INVESTMENT LOSSES, TRADING LOSSES, LOST DATA, OR LOST OPPORTUNITY, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE EXTENSION OR ITS OUTPUT — EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

Because Relic is provided free of charge, to the fullest extent permitted by law the developer's total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Extension shall not exceed USD $0 (the amount you paid to use it), or USD $50, whichever is greater, or the minimum amount required by applicable law. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

10Changes to the Service and These Terms

The developer may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Extension (in whole or in part) at any time. These Terms may be updated from time to time; when they change, the "Last updated" date above will change and the revised Terms will apply to your continued use of the Extension. Your continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

11Termination

You may stop using the Extension and uninstall it at any time. These Terms' disclaimers and limitations of liability survive any termination.

12Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that any dispute arising from these Terms or the Extension will be resolved in the courts located in Texas, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
